Program II – Narrative Digressions
This second program of Films by Robert Frank includes: About Me: A Musical (1971, 35 min.), an unusual self-portrait which combines dramatic reenactments (with actress Lynn Reyner playing Frank) of the photographer reassessing his life and work with documentary-style footage of poets, prisoners, hippies, street people, and others playing their own forms of music; Keep Busy (1975, 38 min.), an improvised story about a group of people living on an island off the coast of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; and This Song for You, Jack (1983, 30 min.) which uses footage Frank shot at the Kerouac Conference at the Naropa Institute in 1982, and includes appearances by Gary Snyder, Allen Ginsberg, David Amram, Carolyn Cassady, William Burroughs, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and others.
