Richard Lerman: Performances, Films & Videos

New Langton Arts

Co- sponsored by New Langton Arts.

Richard Lerman has worked extensively with self-built transducers and electronics to reveal small sounds inside of many materials and objects since 1977. These techniques have been utilized in real time performance pieces, sound installations, films, and video pieces. His Transducer Series films and videos use self-built ‘functional microphones’ as both camera subject and audio input. Microphones are made from different materials to which piezo electric materials are attached, allowing the surface of the object to be highly amplified. These objects and materials also become the sound source for his live performances. This screening will include films, videos and three performances: changing states 3 for metal microphone and butane torch and others.
