Cinematheque presents a rare screening of Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Mieville’s France/tour… a provocative and seminal series of twelve 30 min videotapes produced in 1978 for, French television. Using interviews, text and manipulated images Godard and Mieville’s fifth collaboration directs the viewer’s attention to the processes used in transmitting televisual information and to the medium’s inherent imprint upon its subject. Unusual for broadcast television, France/tour … disrupts what Colin MacCabe called tv’s “ideology of the visible.”
