This program includes recent work by several of Japan’s foremost experimental filmmakers, and was selected by filmmaker and critic Nobuhiro Kawanaka. Formation utilizes digital delay to fragment a ritual; Spacy, a highly innovative and playful journey; A Woman…, by one of Japan’s most important filmmakers, is a film about the shadow… “but there is another dimension to the shadow projected on the wall — the shadow is its own being.”

The program will be introduced by filmmaker Tatsu Aoki, Programming Director of Innocent Eyes and Lenses in Chicago.
