Filmmaker Bruce Baillie (1931–2020) is renowned films including Mass for the Dakota Sioux (1964), Castro Street (1966) and All My Life (1966); for his inestimable influence on generations of filmmakers and for the visionary early-1960s screening events that eventually begat San Francisco Cinematheque and Canyon Cinema. Alongside stills from Baillie’s films, Somewhere from Here to Heaven presents dialogue between Baillie and filmmakers and writers across several generations, presenting contributions by filmmakers Peter Hutton, Jonas Mekas, Ben Rivers, J.P.
