Sidney Peterson

A Celebration

San Francisco Art Institute

Presented in conjunction with the San Francisco Art Institute’s 125th Anniversary.
Pioneer experimental filmmaker who (with James Broughton) initiated the San Francisco avant-garde film movement in 1946 with The Potted Psalm. Sidney Peterson is now 90 and his special blend of radical non-conformism and surreal wit still shines through all of his work. At this rare Bay Area appearance, Peterson will show The Lead Shoes, Mr. Frenhofer and the Minotaur and other films spanning the range of his filmmaking career.
